If you need to switch the same lighting from two different places within the same room then you must use a two way switch. Notes on Dimmer Selection

Standard dimmers listed above can be used to dim all standard houshold lamps, and electronic low voltage lighting transformers, (normally very light and mounted remote from the fitting) upto the maximum loading as shown. If you want to dim low voltage lighting which has a wire wound transformer, (normally very heavy and in the base of the fitting) you will need an INDUCTIVE type dimmer listed below. Fluorescent lamps of any type cannot be dimmed using either Standard or Inductive Dimmers.
